Since 1968
Founder Warren Friessen started the business in 1968, focusing on home and commercial building excavation and finish grading. He later expanded his services into street construction and reconstruction. Warren had a vision to develop a lake in western Sioux Falls, which is known today as Lake Lorraine.
Friessen Construction Company is run by Warren's oldest daughter, Cynthia Monnin, and is widely-respected across the region as a leader in site-development work.

Warren L. Friessen founded Friessen Construction Company in 1968. Initially, the company performed home and commercial building excavation and finish grading.
Excavation for Northwestern Bank, Sioux Falls, South Dakota (1973)
During the 1970s, the business expanded into street construction and reconstruction to include installation of municipal water, sanitary and storm sewer and grading and graveling operations.

In 1983 Friessen Construction Co., Inc. added concrete paving to their portfolio. Projects included drainage structures, curb and gutter for asphalt streets or parking lots, concrete parking lots and street paving.

In 1987, Cynthia Friessen Monnin, daughter of Warren Friessen, joined the company. She has worked in every aspect of the company and currently serves as President.

In 1990, Friessen Construction Co., Inc. entered the residential housing development market. Since then, the company has developed more than 300 acres of residential and commercial property.
